Depends on which hombu and which shihan from the hombu you get your aikdio from.
Oops - Gozo Shioda is the name
The training methods are dramatically different. The intent is much more martial and the training much more rigorous. This is aikido before Ueshiba went to China as kept alive by Gozo Shida, one of his top early students. I think he came back having incorporated Taiji and Bagua elements but also having had a spiritual transformation due to the war which led him away from the martial intent. Just my interpretation.
