this game takes place before FF7, cloud was a basic infantry man in the SHINRA corp, with zacks death, somehow, his memories n whatnot were transfered to cloud, making cloud think HE was the soldier first class, something like that
hmm are you sure? cause didnt cloud USED to be in soldier in ff7 or something? and in the video he said that he was still a 1st class. ive only played the first 5 mins of ffvii so im not 100% sure.
